The Councilman of Pedanías claims to the Autonomous Community the beginning of the settlement of the highway RM-515 (21/11/2018)

Antonio Garcia today showed his discomfort about the state in which is the project of refurbishment of the RM-515 highway, which connects Alhama with Pliego, following the commitment of the general director of Roads to begin these works last summer.

The works establish the improvement of a total of 10.4 kilometers, from the crossing of the Los Pavos road to the junction of the E-10, El Berro road, in the municipality of Mula.

"We have received the documentation from the Autonomous Community, however our surprise has been that it asks the City Council to manage the availability of the land for its assignment to the general direction of Roads," says Garcia.

The project includes the request of the Consistory, since "initially the council had the intention to act in a first phase within the municipality of Alhama that only reached the end of the village of Gebas and we moved the request that this first action will be taken to the junction with the road of El Berro, which was to extend one kilometer more, "says Councilman Pedanías.

García has shown his willingness to collaborate with the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure to identify the affected neighbors, promote a meeting with them and expedite the procedures for the land to be made available to the council, "but it must be the general direction of Roads who comes to these agreements and the Autonomous Community who compensates in your case, and not the City, because it is not our responsibility, "he said.

The mayor of Pedanías asks that the works be tendered before the end of the year, or at the latest, before next summer "so that this much needed reform is a reality, as announced by the previous director general of roads last year, because traveling this way every day is more unbearable. "

García stressed that "if this work is not expedited, it will not be the responsibility of the City Council, but of the Autonomous Community."

When the work begins, it is foreseen to act on thirty closed curves for improvement and conditioning.

"The affected spaces have an area of between 100 m2 and 2,000 m2 per farm, which would have to be transferred to the Autonomous Community so that they can act, but it seems that this administration does not want to expropriate and transfers the responsibility to the Town Councils, without However, we do not have any legal basis on this road, "says García, who considers given the low cost of these lands that" is more an administrative procedure than a budgetary problem ".

The budget for these works is 2,400,000 euros and includes the complete renovation of the pavement, the improvement and expansion of dangerous curves, some small walls, sections of gutter, new water passages and signage.

"It's a mountain road, with curves, and a main access to the Sierra Espuña regional park and the high districts of Alhama, where many workers use it daily," he concludes.
