The regional government has allocated more than 187,000 euros to the construction of a water storage basin and the remodeling of a pipe section of the main irrigation network for the Community of Regantes (CR) of Alhama de Murcia, composed of 2,344 comuneros .
The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Angel del Amor, today visited the infrastructure where he explained that "it is a priority for the regional government to provide the necessary tools to irrigators to optimize the use and management of water among its comuneros" .
The aid has allowed the construction of a regulation raft that has a capacity of 122,000 cubic meters and irrigates up to 5,096 hectares, with the objective of regulating the water resources derived from the Tajo-Segura Transfer and the reclaimed water from the Wastewater Treatment Plant of Wastewater (WWTP) of Alhama.
"The investment by the Community of Irrigators for the raft has been 379,158 euros and the Ministry has contributed 141,953 euros." This work has been provided with all the systems of connection to the water network of the irrigators and may perform the irrigation without need to use the assisted pressure, with the consequent saving of energy ", said Del Amor.
Likewise, a section of pipeline has been replaced, which transports up to 30 percent of the water resources of this community of irrigators, to avoid the loss of water equivalent to four percent of the water transported.
The investment cost of this work has been 113,732 euros, and the subsidy of the Autonomous Community has amounted to 45,493 euros.
This aid has been executed through the regional government's own funds, within the 2018 participatory budgets.
In addition, environmental restoration works have been carried out through the revegetation of the affected area with a plantation similar to the existing one.
