The City Council saves more than 500,000 euros in the electricity bill this term (20/03/2019)

The Energy Efficiency area has made public the data on electricity expenditure of the City of Alhama in the period 2015-2019.

The total saving was 532,805 euros, maintaining a progressive decrease in these four years: in 2015, of the million euros budgeted, the final expenditure was 936,359 euros (-6.36%);

in 2016 it was 906,203 euros (-9.37%);

in 2017 of 818,553 euros (-18.14%) and in 2018 the expense amounted to 806,079 euros (-19.39%).

The money saved has been earmarked from the beginning to investments for the improvement of energy efficiency and sustainability.

In these four years work has been done on the adaptation of the nearly 200 electricity supply contracts managed by the City Council, for which the data of the energy audit that was carried out in 2016 and invested in those areas that determined this study.

Up to the end of 2018, some 1,400 luminaires of the more than 4,500 existing in the municipality (30%) of 125-watt mercury vapor and 100-watt and 150-watt sodium vapor reactors had been replaced by the latest LED technology devices. power, depending on the height of the lamp: those of 5 meters have been changed by luminaires of 31 watts, those of 7 meters by 55 watts and 9 meters by 70 watts, in the following streets and neighborhoods:

These new luminaires incorporate regulated LEDs, which progressively reduce the luminous flux by up to 50% during the early morning, when there is less use of public roads.

The new lighting has a color temperature of 4,000 degrees Kelvin, in addition to low light pollution.

Last year, all the old lighting of the City Hall building was replaced by the latest LED technology, as well as energy improvement actions in public schools.

By 2019 the Consistory has already been awarded a new contract for improving street lighting, whose project amounts to 240,000 euros, through which they will install more than 800 LED luminaires, to act in the following areas:

- The Philippines neighborhood

- C / Totana and adjacent

- C / Station

- C / Simón García y Moratalla

- Access to the cemetery

- C / Santo Ángel

- Road to the Raft of Ral

- Highway RM-515 (municipal section)

- Urb. Link

- Camino de Los Pavos and adjacent

- District of El Cañarico

- Pedanía de La Costera (other areas)

- Industrial park

In addition, new points of light with LED technology will be installed on roads and districts:

- Camino Vereda de Los Secanos

- Camino de Inchola

- Camino de Los Valencianos

- Highway RM-603

With this total set of actions will be obtained a saving in electricity consumption of 850 megawatts per year, which is equivalent to a savings of CO2 emissions of 525,000 kilograms per year, the equivalent of planting 1,300 trees in nine hectares of land (or nine soccer fields) or eliminate the emission of gases from 350 cars.

The most important consumption in the municipality corresponds to public lighting.

The council that produces a greater electrical consumption is Sports, followed by Education, General Administration, Culture, Social Services, Local Police, Pedanías, Equality, Employment, Tourism, Trade and Environment.
