The City Council suspends the activity in public facilities due to heavy rain forecast (11/09/2019)

The General Directorate of Public Safety and Emergencies has issued communications to this City Council notifying the alert issued by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) in the warning of adverse weather events of red and / or orange level due to rains that can reach 70 liters per square meter in one hour and 200 liters per square meter in 12 hours throughout the Region.

The orange level starts at 24:00 h.

Faced with this situation, this morning at 10:30 a.m.

The mayor, Mariola Guevara, held a first meeting with the Chief Local Police Officer, José Alfonso Toral, the head of the municipal brigades, Pedro Provencio, and councilors Antonio García and Pedro López.

A second government team meeting was held with the person in charge of the Municipal Emergency Plan, Juan Martínez.

The local government has decided to adopt the following measures for this Thursday, September 12, which are added to those already taken by the Ministry of Education and Culture, who has suspended all the activity of the educational centers of the Autonomous Community:

· Closure of public facilities and activities programmed by the City Council.

· Ban on parking on the Don Diego promenade during the risks of the weather alert.

· Signposting and fences at vulnerable points, such as promenades and underpasses.

To these measures is added the cleaning of scuppers carried out by the municipal brigade.

Tomorrow Thursday, at 8:30 a.m., a new coordination meeting will take place to closely monitor the development of the measures taken before these meteorological phenomena.

TIPS FOR RAINS AND FLOODS OF 112

• Be informed of the meteorological parts.

• In case of flood, locate the highest points.

• Establish yourself in a place that is not susceptible to floods.

• Stay away from ravines, torrents and their bridges.

In a building:

• Clean roof, decks, downspouts and drains.

• Review places that can flood and protect them.

• Close holes of doors and windows.

• Place what you want to save in the highest points of the house or out of the reach of the water.

• Teach the whole family to disconnect water, electricity and gas.

• Prepare water, food and medicines you may need.

In a vehicle:

• Avoid taking the car during adverse events.

• Do not park on the banks of rivers or in channels of ravines, ravines, torrents and their bridges or near them.

• Never cross sections that are flooded, the force of water could drag you.

• Ride on preferred roads and moderate your speed.

• If you stop due to poor visibility, don't forget to signal it.
