PSOE: "The PP has the audacity to blame the Alhama City Council for the closure of nightlife" (15/10/2020)

| "when the restrictions are imposed by the Autonomous Community" | The popular ones, who seem to have lost all ethics and will to cooperate to help the hospitality and local commerce to get ahead, carry out an aggressive campaign on social networks confronting business and polluting public opinion with falsehoods. The Popular Party of Alhama has a serious problem.

And it is that it does not find its place in the opposition, disoriented since 2015 and totally lost in this new legislature.

Their ignorance about municipal management is such that they have not yet learned that the rules that regulate the operation of hospitality establishments are imposed by the regional government of the PP and Citizens, led by Vox in the Autonomous Community. The popular ones surprise us every 15 days with a new order in the BORM, contradicting each other and varying the instructions to follow in terms of capacity, use of the bar, limitations of the activity inside, number of people who can be gather, schedules, etc.

It is they, and only they, who have suspended nightlife throughout the Region, causing great harm to hoteliers who have this type of business and without providing real solutions to the problem we are facing.During the state of alarm, the PP already showed its total disloyalty to the Government of Spain, criticizing the measures adopted and engaging in politics with the pain and the victims of the disease.

After insistently calling for the recovery of powers for the Autonomous Community, now that it has them, it shows a total inability to manage them, with its Regional President missing and without meeting for about two months with the mayors of municipalities to listen to their needs. The socialist government in Alhama has responded to all requests from merchants and hoteliers, within its powers.

The City Council approved in April a contingency plan that had the support of 19 of the 21 councilors of the Corporation, worth 860,000 euros, of which 321,000 are destined to help the hotel industry and local commerce.

Now 75,000 euros are going to be invested in a campaign of discount vouchers for clients, in which the hospitality establishments that wish can participate, and which joins the CamON! Initiative, launched together with the Murcia Chamber of Commerce , where another 12,000 euros in bonds were contributed for the users of the shops. It should be remembered that the local government also reduced the water bill by 20% for about 600 subscribers, including bars and restaurants.

In addition, it launched an individualized service for SMEs and the self-employed and has made discounts on the receipt of garbage for the time they have been closed and offset the rate of the occupation of terraces to the premises.Another measure has been to distribute bottles of hydroalcoholic gel to about 500 businesses and carry out a campaign to disseminate and promote Alhama's commerce and hospitality in local and regional media.During the state of alarm, the City Council granted all possible terrace extensions to these businesses, allowing the majority of hoteliers to keep 100% of the number of tables they had before this situation.

Something that has happened in very few municipalities.

Now, it is working through the Ordinance of Terraces to enable small premises that do not have this space to install one temporarily, after the Autonomous Community has reduced its interior capacity to 40%.

In addition, it is working so that terrace fees can be abolished for the entire year 2021.The local government is also looking for solutions to nightlife bars, since the CARM suspended its activity on August 15, discriminating against these businesses with respect to the rest of the sector.

The goal is for them to remain open without losing their current license. The Alhama Government team has presented for the plenary session of this month of October a proposal for the Autonomous Community to issue a new order where no hotelier is discriminated against and everyone can exercise their activity regardless of the type of license they have, as well as launch a direct aid plan for this sector. The popular ones know in detail what the situation is, and they have all the technical reports.

However, we continue to see how far from making contributions and going hand in hand with the other parties, they are only thinking about their partisan interests and transferring the tension that they have generated at the national level also to the municipalities, leaving aside our SMEs, freelancers and neighbors in general, who are the ones who are harmed by their irresponsible attitude.
