Information on the processionary caterpillar (22/02/2016)

This morning, the Councillor for the Environment, Antonio Garcia, accompanied by Manolo Eagle, Technical Environment and Simon Garcia, Technical Parks and Gardens have exposed a series of recommendations regarding the processionary caterpillar, and that due to high temperatures caterpillar has registered advance their life cycle.

Antonio Garcia, said that because of this, from the Department of Environment and the Department of Parks and Gardens, is to report a series of recommendations regarding the processionary caterpillar so that the population of Alhama know and understand how to act if observation or contact therewith.

Meanwhile, Manolo Eagle has stated that the processionary caterpillar is a bug, and that there is a moment of special significance that gives common name for the species, into the soil worm that takes in procession in their life cycle.

Also commented other biological cycles;

Caterpillars, from September, the larvae feed on the leaves, and come winter silk build nests to protect themselves.

Recommended in case of allergic reaction contact the nearest health center or if the vet.

Simon Garcia, noted that since the council held various periodic preventive actions to control the population of caterpillars.
