The College Gines Diaz-San Cristobal, Alhama de Murcia, won the National Prize for Short Road Safety Education (24/05/2016)

Under the title "The Lake", the children try to raise awareness among older about the importance of not being distracted by mobile at the wheel, and its consequences.

The 44 videos presented, in which participated 268 students from 19 provinces, have received more than 600,000 votes through the web and social networks.

Since the campaign started in 2012 involving more than 1,382 students, with 196 short films and more than 1,918,800 ballots issued.

The Royal Automobile Club of Spain (RACE) and Goodyear continue their goal of raising awareness of child safety in traffic through creativity and interaction between teachers and students.

With this idea was launched, in its fourth year, the edition of the National Short Film Awards Road Education, inviting all elementary students to develop their short films on road safety education.

Today, the four finalists have gathered in Madrid, where he has known the winner of the 2016 edition, which went to the College Ginés San Cristobal Diaz, Alhama de Murcia, with its video "Lake".

During the four months of competition, 268 elementary students, from 30 schools in 19 Spanish provinces they have joined the site prepared for the contest www.premioseducacionvial.com a total of 44 short films and road safety education.

In this edition, nearly 40,000 users have made more than 86,400 visits on the web, leaving more than 600,000 votes through the contest page and interactivity with social networks.

The 20 best rated in this short cut went to the finals, where a Jury of Honor ruled the final outcome of the four winning videos in all three categories.

This year, due to the level of the proposed work, the jury decided to award two third prizes.

In this edition 2016, distributed prizes among the winners have reached a total value of € 8,500, with a first place with a prize of € 4,000;

a second prize of 2,000 € and in this case, two third place with € 1,000 prize.

In addition to the amounts in cash, the contest rewards the effort small gift with a camcorder and a diploma in recognition of the work done for all participants of the winning videos.

The first prize was awarded the San Cristobal Diaz Ginés College in Alhama de Murcia, with its video "Lake".

The second prize went to the College Ateliers Petit Darts Valencia with the short film "You should go with eye!";

the third prize went to "The signs are all" Federico García Lorca College of Carboneras (Almería), a position he shares with Leandro Alejano College in Cilleros (Caceres) with the short "window".

Along with school work, at the event held today has been awarded the Institutional Award, which this fourth edition fell on the City of San Sebastian de los Reyes.

It is a recognition, no cash prize, which rewards the work of this Consistory in promoting education campaigns and road safety in the municipality, a fact that, in the opinion of the jury, has been considered an example for the rest of cities.

The objective of the creation of these awards is to unite the performing arts and driver education, so participants must create a short film about 60 seconds long, where situations are represented with which can be found on the way to school, transmitting a clear and concise on civic behavior and road secure message, either as a pedestrian, cyclist, passenger school bus, public, or private vehicle.

In the whole editions already held the National Short Film Awards Road Education involved a total of 1,382 students, with 196 short films and more than 1,918,800 ballots issued.

Since its inception, this pioneering initiative in Spain has had the institutional support of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, the Directorate General of Traffic, the Office of Road Safety, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The act of awards to the winners was held at the headquarters of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Madrid, and has attended the Jury of Honor, made up of senior representatives of the entities participating in the awards who they have recognized the work of children and their proposals.

The goal of RACE and Goodyear with this initiative is to expand efforts to bring road safety education to schools, thus increasing the safety of children in traffic and get more committed to future road safety adults.
