Local Police will perform regular speed checks (31/01/2017)

From February and in general, the Local Police of Alhama will carry out speed controls on the streets and avenues of our town with a mobile radar purchased by the City.

The goal is for drivers to maintain adequate speed within the urban area, being a deterrent to avoid inappropriate behavior when using a vehicle.

The maximum speed allowed in the municipality of Alhama is 30 km / h.

In a few very centric streets, such as Postigos and Federico Servet Street, it is limited to 20 km / h, and in Aranidas Antonio Fuertes and Ginés Campos the maximum speed is 40 km / h, including also the RM-515 road, From the round of Ernest Lluch.

The collection of infractions through these controls will be devoted entirely to actions related to Education and Road Safety, investing in children, as future drivers, to know and practice all the lessons they can receive in this area.

During the first month of implementation of periodic speed controls, penalties will not be applied, unless speed violations are recorded that could be classified as "of special gravity".

The actions and sanctions will be reported periodically through the Transparency Portal of the City Council.

During the past year 2016, the City Council already carried out a study of road safety with mobile radar in various streets of our town.

The overall results of the controls showed a percentage of offenders close to 38%.

The number of controls was 27, the vehicles that passed under the radar scanner were 1,279 and the number of violators, 485.

In September, through the different assemblies in the neighborhoods during the pilot participatory budgeting, there were widespread complaints from the neighbors about the speed at which the streets of our municipality traveled.

One of the proposals put to the vote was the purchase of a mobile radar;

Although it was not selected among the four projects with greater support of votes for the municipality, it has been possible to undertake that investment.

The services of the police patrols will also be reinforced by the districts and the agents will continue to carry out blood alcohol checks, as well as surveillance for compliance with the rules of coexistence established by municipal ordinances.

Between them:

Protection and pet ownership: microchip, vaccination campaigns and surveillance for pets so they do not defix on the public road and if they do they will be cleaned right away.

Respect to the rules of road cleaning and waste management: deposit the garbage in the containers within the established schedules and the separation of organic, inorganic waste, paper-board and plastic.

And surveillance to avoid urine episodes of people on the public highway.
