The City Council addresses a plan to improve air quality (09/02/2017)

On Wednesday, February 8, at the request of this City Council, a meeting took place between Encarnación Molina, Director General of Quality and Environmental Assessment, and Antonio García, Councilor for the Environment, to study the implementation of air quality control systems in the town.

During the almost 2 hours of the meeting, both positions discussed the structure of the Atmospheric Surveillance Network of the Region of Murcia, the distribution of its measurement stations and the Air Quality Forecasting and Diagnostic System (SINQLAIR ).

Under this system it was appropriate to establish a daily communication channel that allows to provide to the neighbors daily information on the state of air quality in our municipality and even the forecasts for the following days.

In this sense, the City Council offered its human and telematic means to adapt them to the requirements of the system and generate a platform that can serve to keep the population informed and plan all the actions that may be necessary to maintain a good air quality.

In fact, the result of this meeting has already been arranged a technical meeting at the end of the month to organize this platform for the exchange and dissemination of information.

Other issues related to these issues, such as the burning of pruning remains, the shredding of these wastes or the improvement of urban mobility and quality of life by promoting the use of bicycles were discussed throughout the meeting.

Also participating in the meeting were the Chief of the Environmental Planning and Evaluation Service and the Municipal Environmental Technician.
