Students of Architecture and Communication design a new thermal space in Alhama de Murcia (24/02/2017)

The students of the subject Projects IV B of the degree in Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) visited this Thursday the Museum of Baños de Alhama de Murcia and the area of ​​Las Menas, one of the possible locations to recover the thermal tradition Of the municipality and where students will design bathrooms spaces.

In the afternoon, in the Women's Nursery for Women, a presentation of proposals by UMU Communication students took place with the presence of architecture students, who brought together about 100 university students and their professors.

The models developed by the future architects will be exhibited in June at the House of Culture, along with the works for the brand of the new spa of Alhama that are performing students of the grateful of Advertising and Public Relations of the University of Murcia, within the framework Of an educational innovation initiative.

"This is a pre-professional experience for students of recent courses that resembles the way it is done in the street, with interdisciplinary teams, and in a topic where the City Council is working," says the professor of the School Of Architecture and Building José María López.

"The architectural and brand image ideas provided by the students of the public universities of the Region will be very useful in the face of the final project to recover thermal uses," said acting Mayor Mariola Guevara.

Students will design a spa bath space in declared waters of mineral-medicinal utility and emanating at a temperature of 41 degrees.

Alhama, whose Arabic name means 'baths', has had a thermal tradition since Roman times and until recently.

One of the places that are shuffled for the baths is the area known as Las Menas, between La Cubana park and the fairground, next to the well of thermal water.

On March 23 and 24 will be held in Alhama a double participatory day, which will present the consulting work that the City Council has done on the project of the future resort of Alhama, and that will again be with these students.
