Provincial Traffic Headquarters will make a speed study in Alhama (22/06/2017)

The mayor of Alhama, Diego Conesa met Wednesday with the Provincial Traffic Chief, Virginia Jerez, accompanied by councilman Felipe Garcia and Sergeant Chief of Local Police, José Clares.

At the meeting, they asked the Provincial Headquarters for technical advice on road safety and traffic control in our municipality.

They also requested updated data for vehicles lacking technical inspection (ITV) and those that do not have mandatory insurance (SOA).

The City of Alhama will launch an information campaign to remind vehicle users of the obligation to have these documents.

Failure to comply with the obligation to insure de facto implies the deposit or sealing of the vehicle and carries a penalty of 601 to 3,005 euros, graduated depending on whether the vehicle circulates or not.

During the meeting, they explained to the Provincial Traffic Chief the operation and implementation of the speed controls that are being carried out through the Alhama Cívica campaign.

The ultimate goal is prevention and can serve as a deterrent to reduce speed levels in the municipality.

In this sense, the City Council will have the help and advice of the Headquarters technicians to carry out a "study of average speeds" in crossings and streets with a greater number of accidents and others that support a very high level of traffic .

Felipe García also reported that the technical aspects are currently under study to be able to install video surveillance cameras in the main entrances of Alhama, in order to control the traffic and vehicles that do not have in force the regulatory documentation.
