The mayor, Diego Conesa, and the president of the entity, José Luis Garre, signed the agreement between the two institutions that allows for the provision of emergency health services throughout the municipality and transportation adapted for the elderly or with reduced mobility .
This relationship has been established since 2002 to have the base of relief that Cruz Roja has in the locality, as well as the medicalized advanced life support ambulance and its corresponding electromedicine and rescue material.
The agreement has been signed annually and supposes a municipal contribution of 53,000 euros which mainly covers the costs of the ambulance, but also many others referred to social intervention actions, support for access to employment, training, volunteering, participation, organization and Management.
This new agreement is structured in 4 large blocks, some of them with important innovations.
The first large block is the preventive coverage of events organized by the City that may have a foreseeable risk.
On this occasion, the expected events are quantified, reaching a not inconsiderable figure of 112, with a total of 1,424 estimated hours of dedication.
The second large block is the transport adapted for seniors and / or with reduced mobility.
As a novelty, a special dedication has been planned for those aged 65 or over who live alone and who lack family or social support to attend to basic activities of daily living (transfer to the Health Center, purchase of medicines, etc.). .).
The other two blocks of the agreement are those related to training, in this period aimed at cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the management of defibrillators, and the very maintenance of these devices.
Thus, among the commitments to be fulfilled by Red Cross, the agreement pays special attention to the carrying out of relief, emergency and preventive activities to cover public, recreational-cultural, festive and sports events.
Among the first is the coverage of public events of all kinds and, in general, any situation of massive presence of citizens and / or extraordinary risk and catastrophe.
Among the latter, there is basically urgent social-sanitary transportation throughout the municipality, always with support to medical-medical personnel, most of which are coordinated by the Emergency Coordination Center 112. In addition, the Red Cross collaborated in the transportation of Users of the Day Center for Older Persons and the Occupational Center "Las Salinas", in both cases services provided from Monday to Friday.
Among the many non-sanitary social actions that Cruz Roja provides in Alhama are institutional and occupational training, intervention for people with children and young people with integration difficulties, the elderly or disabled, and all collaborations in the fight against poverty And social exclusion.
In the specific case of the ambulance that has Cruz Roja, it is worth noting that it provides its services with a minimum amount of a driver and a technician in schedules from 08.00 to 20.00 from Monday to Friday and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays of 24 hours.
In this way, during the year 2015 the Red Cross ambulance provided a total of 366 emergency services in Alhama, in which 443 people were cared for.
Of these 200 were post and emergency and 243 during preventive services.
