Ecovidrio and Alhama City Council encourage neighbors to participate in the recycled trophy for La Vuelta (28/07/2017)

With glass recycled by the neighbors of Alhama in the coming weeks, Ecovidrio will design the sustainable trophy of the winner of the stage Caravaca de la Cruz - Alhama de Murcia

The trophy symbolizes the effort of both cyclists at each stage and citizens to care for the environment

Ecovidrio and the Ayuntamiento de Alhama de Murcia collaborate to raise awareness about glass recycling in the next edition of La Vuelta Ciclista España 2017. And is that the containers of this material to be recycled during the next weeks by the neighbors in the two containers of The campaign 'Recicla Vidrio y Pedalea', vinilados for the occasion, will be the ones that make up the sustainable trophy of the winner of the stage Caravaca de la Cruz - Alhama de Murcia on 29 August.

This awareness-raising initiative, framed within the campaign 'Recycle glass and pedal', aims to mobilize the residents of Alhama and make them participate in one of the great sporting events of the year.

The trophy, fruit of the participatory action of the neighbors, symbolizes the effort of both cyclists at every stage and of citizens to care for the environment.

In addition, Ecovidrio has created for the occasion a miniglú solidarity commemorative and official of the Vuelta a España 2017, which can be purchased through the website miniglu.es.

For the sale of each 500 of these commemorative containers, Ecovidrio will donate a hand-bike to the National Hospital of Paraplegics of Toledo.

The Vuelta a España 2017 will take place from Saturday August 19 to Sunday September 10 with a total of 21 stages in which passionate and cycling fans will be able to know the environmental benefits of recycling glass and the importance of this habit.

Data of glass recycling in Alhama de Murcia

According to the latest data for 2016, citizens Alhama de Murcia recycled a total of 418,410 kilograms of glass, which means that each inhabitant recycled on average 19.64 kg.

Regarding the rate of containerization, Alhama de Murcia is located with an average of 142 inhabitants per container, with a total of 150 igloos for the waste glass containers installed.
