The City Council renovates more than 1,400 streetlights with LED lighting (09/02/2018)

The Councilor for Energy Efficiency, Antonio García, has explained the project of renovation of public lighting by installing new LED-type luminaires (light-emitting diode, 'light emitting diode') that is being carried out in different streets of the town urban.

Of the total number of luminaries in the municipality, about 4,500, it is acting on 30% of them, of mercury vapor of 125 watts and of sodium vapor of 100 and 150 watts of ferromagnetic reactance.

These will be replaced by devices of the latest LED technology of different power, depending on the height of the lamp: those that are 5 meters will be replaced by 31-watt luminaires, those of 7 meters by 55 watts and 9 meters by 70 watts.

These new luminaires incorporate regulated LEDs, which progressively reduce the luminous flux by up to 50% during the early morning, when there is less use of public roads.

The new lighting has a color temperature of 4,000 degrees Kelvin, in addition to low light pollution.
