People dependent on Alhama will have more resources for home help care (28/02/2018)

On March 29, 2017 the City Council of Alhama de Murcia signed an agreement through the Murcia Institute of Social Action (IMAS) for the provision of home help service to people in situations of dependence, for an amount of 327,000 euros for two years.

The service began its journey on May 1 and has had a great acceptance in the municipality, before the end of the year and had a waiting list.

During 2017, a total of 51 families were served.

The hourly intensity is established by the IMAS which combines the degree of dependence of the beneficiary and the real need for full hours.

The most frequent is that the services are of 5 hours per week.

66.66% of the beneficiaries receive between 3 and 5 hours a week, 21.56% receive between 6 and 11 hours a week and 11.76% receive more than 11 hours a week.

In relation to the profile of the people served, 74.50% are women, a total of 38, the rest are men, 13.

In terms of ages there are 7 users under 65, 10 over 65 and 34 over 80 years old.

We found 34 users rated in grade I, 11 users rated in grade II and 6 users with a grade III dependency.

This data reflects that it is a service widely used by people with a low level of dependency, that is, they require support in some basic daily activity once a day, it is a service that favors the permanence of the person in a situation of dependency in their own environment, sometimes supported by family or others.

In general, the evaluation made to the beneficiaries shows good results, shows great satisfaction on the part of both the user and the family and proof of this is the great acceptance and demand that the service has had since its implementation.

The Councilor for Social Services, Felipe García, requested an addendum to expand the budget of the service with the intention of reducing or eliminating the current waiting list with which the IMAS has demand for the service (currently 10 people).

On February 27 this request is made reality and an addendum is signed that increases the total budget by € 65,527.00.

What affects 7,400 extra hours of attention, we will allocate a total of 3,700 hours to personal attention and another 3,700 hours to domestic attention, all of them for families that join the service from now on.

This addendum will be effective as of April 1, 2018.

In this way, the alhameño consistory may extend attention to people who have a recognized degree of dependency, according to Law 39/2006, called "Dependency Law", with the aim of meeting the needs of daily life and increasing the autonomy of these users.

Throughout the year 2017, a total of 16 home help aides worked in the service, of which 11 already belong to the company's permanent staff.

100% of the workforce are women with an average age of 46.5 years.

Among the improvements that were achieved in the bidding process included the provision of external and complementary services to the own at home with each beneficiary by the auxiliaries.

In addition, 10 hours per month of physiotherapist, psychologist and occupational therapist were requested to help and complement the work of the assistant at home.
