Alhama already has the General Municipal Management Plan adopted in its entirety (25/02/2011)

The Mayor of Alhama, José Espadas, accompanied by the Town Planning, Juan Romero and several members of the Municipal Government Team, received this morning the Director General of Planning and Housing, Antonio Navarro Corchón.

The regional government representative, who came to visit the exhibition "New Urban Landmarks," has given the news that the General Plan Municipal Planning has been approved in full.

The news makes Alhama de Murcia in the first town in the region with a fully approved PGMO.

The PGOM was approved in 2008, but some issues remained outstanding.

Since then, the city of Alhama has been working to save all the requirements demanded for final approval which, in the words of Mayor, José Espadas, has been the "icing on the cake" of a legislature where Alhama has excelled both in their urban development, as development of services and its finances.

The PGMO was approved unanimously by the Municipal Corporation and is a future project of the municipality in a horizon of 25 years with a village designed for a population of 45,000, with all necessary infrastructure and equipment, and designed, with a Edge tour system that reverse the current radial layout.

The plan has an absolute respect for the natural (Alhama has more than 60% of his land with some degree of protection and 20% of natural areas in the region) and the definition of ecological corridors between these areas.

In addition, the paper enhances the industrial park central advantage of the situation of the municipality and the new infrastructure (Alhama-Cartagena highway, widening of the MU-603 to Mazarrón, third lane of the A-7 and new route of the AVE).

The PGMO de Alhama also has the protection of traditional agricultural areas, as well as the modernization of irrigation works and strengthens the residential tourist sector which will enable the gradual incorporation of new areas, following a resolution of its infrastructure and equipment.

The town of Alhama has 313 square kilometers.

The PGMO process was initiated in May 2004 and concluded in July 2007, when he returned in full to the rectifications required by the competent bodies and when sent for final approval to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport.
