Medieval market in Alhama de Murcia (23/04/2011)

The Plaza del Ayuntamiento de Alhama de Murcia is converted back into a medieval world filled with joy and bustle, music and spectacle.

The market is held in the framework of the Feast of the Mayos.

To not coincide with Easter, will mount a week later than in previous years: on April 30, 1 and 2 May.

The square will be decorated with flags and colorful fabrics, craftsmen dress up as medieval characters, minstrels, beggars, nobles and pages, a witch on stilts, a titeritero, a fakir and a juggler will sound and color to the event.

Expected about 40 true craftsmen offering an excellent opportunity to buy something special for Mother's Day: ceramic, handbags original fabric or leather, jewelry and silver jewelry, glass, or semiprecious stones, natural cosmetics.

But things were not just for moms, there will be wooden toys and puppets for children, hand-painted T-shirts and pins fun for young people, and no shortage of food stalls with cheeses and sausages made according to recipes that have changed little since the Middle Ages, with herbs, nuts, traditional canned bread is also a medieval tavern, a creperie and a tent with tea and Arabic sweets.

Others share workshops for children where they can make their own piece of craftsmanship.
