The newly restored convent of San Francisco, Mula, has been the scene where took place the signing of the founding charter of the Association of Municipalities of the old Marquis of Vélez created by 15 municipalities in the provinces of Almeria and Murcia.
The event, which was chaired by the Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos Ruiz, who has directed José Iborra, mayor of Mula and president of the association, accompanied by the mayors of Vélez Blanco (Antonio Cabrera), which in turn is vice president first;
Eduardo Contreras, Mayor of Molina de Segura and second vice president;
Mayor of Velez Rubio (Miguel Martínez-Carlón Manchón), treasurer and Francisco Javier Montalbán, mayor of Librilla and secretary of the association.
The mayor of Alhama de Murcia, Fernando Alfonso Morales Ceron, went to the ceremony accompanied by the mayor of Culture and Heritage, Carmen Maria Rodriguez.
The mayor, initialed the minutes along with other mayors in the act which was also projected a video on the municipalities of the newly formed association.
The aims of this association emphasizes the promotion of relations and cooperation between organizations and institutions involved in conservation, research and promotion of historical, artistic and ethnographic heritage of the old Marquesa de los Vélez do.
The organization and promotion of joint actions, partnerships and agreements with other public and private organizations are also intended, looking for local tourism promotion.
All these actions will comrades pursuing sustainable development, development of partner municipalities and organizing actions involving knowledge of our history, mainly among young and school-age audience.
Ultimately the newly created Association of Municipalities of the old "Marquis of Vélez" has to be achieved between the municipalities that make up the knowledge of our roots, promoting tourism, heritage management and brotherhood between neighboring territory, associations and other entities that can share activities, experiences, etc.
To this end, intend to apply good practice in the design and management of projects promoting heritage;
designing cultural itineraries encouraging their promotion and approval with regional, national and European itineraries, etc.
The first board consists of the following members: President, mayor of Mula, José Iborra;
First Vice President: Mayor Antonio Cabrera Vélez Blanco;
Second Vice President: Mayor Eduardo Contreras Molina de Segura;
Secretary: the mayor of Librilla, Francisco J. Montalbán;
Treasurer: Mayor of Velez Rubio, Miguel Carlón;
and as a vocal exercise the mayors of Alhama de Murcia, Fernando Alfonso Ceron, Cantoria, Gaspar Masegosa, and Cuevas del Almanzora, Jesus Caicedo.
