Agriculture conduct a comprehensive management plan for the protection of the protected space of Saladares Guadalentin (02/11/2015)

The Minister of Water, Agriculture and Environment, Adela Martinez-Cache, announced today after a meeting with the mayor of Alhama de Murcia, Diego Conesa, the Ministry will carry out the processing of the comprehensive management plan for the Saladares guadalentín to protect this protected landscape and declared Area of ​​Special Interest for Birds (SPA) within the Natura 2000 sites.

The objective of this action is that the Department, the Town Council and private landowners "work together to protect this area of ​​great importance for the steppe birds," explained the minister, adding that "the beginning the processing of the plan is scheduled for March next year. "

The Site of Community Importance (SCI) Saladares Guadalentín is a saline wetland formed by a set of salt marsh fragments aligned around the Guadalentín river channels and Rambla de Las Salinas, with an area of ​​2,035 hectares, and elongated north-south length of 14.5 kilometers.

In the Guadalentín is Saladares flora of great importance, such as salting, almarjo, tamarisk, evergreen, sea lettuce, buckthorn and date palm.

It also has many water birds, amphibians and reptiles.
