Agreement with sports clubs for 2016 (27/01/2016)

Last Friday the Mayor, Diego Conesa and the Councillor for Sports, Antonio José box, along with other members of the municipal government, gathered in the Plenary Hall with sports clubs Alhama to discuss, among other matters, the renewal of the agreement that the City has with them.

At the meeting, the mayors exposed to, prior and as has been explained in various forums had proposed a 35% reduction in the subsidy paid to all associations and clubs in the city.

For sports clubs amounted annually to the amount of 67,500 euros.

It also informed them that the city faces a likely drop in revenue, nearly a million euros, on the grounds of Condado de Alhama II, whose owners have resorted to court the price of land and, therefore, the amount of Contribution to pay for it.

The Mayor pointed out that "there are two ways to balance the budget: higher taxes, mainly property tax, or reducing expenses."

He added that "the government team has already announced months before the electoral campaign freezing throughout the term of the tax bill, so the choices are a reduction in municipal spending."

In the same way that you are moving to other groups, the City Council has decided to continue to budget the same amount of money during 2016, informing that all clubs will be without the 35% from 2017.

At the same time they were told that on January 1 came into force a law requiring the clubs, on the one hand, to declare their income and, secondly, to the coaches and trainers have a contract like any other worker.

This will mean an increase in labor costs for sports entities 40%.

The City showed their willingness to listen to them and help them find alternative ways to keep those revenues, as a collaboration with the Department of Sports in organizing sports events.

Finally, the clubs were summoned to sign an agreement for the next four years with the conditions set to provide security, ensuring 65% of revenues in 2016 so that they can resume their activities.

The Government expressed their firm commitment to sports clubs and associations in the municipality, while encouraging them to comply with the new obligations regarding transparency.
