The Region is committed to widening the proposed new Valle de Leiva (04/02/2016)

A delegation of the educational community of Alhama, headed by the mayor, Diego Conesa, met yesterday in Murcia with the Minister of Education, Maria Isabel Sanchez.

The meeting was attended by the General Director of Educational Centers, Maria Dolores Valcárcel, and the Director General of Educational Planning and Human Resources, Enrique Ujaldón.

the Councillor for Education of Alhama, Mariola Guevara, was also attended by Director of the Valle de Leiva, Roberto Garcia, the president of FAPA and Ampa center, Lali Mora, president of the institute Ampa Miguel Hernandez, Felipe Garcia and Cati Sanz, a member of FAPA.

The reason for the meeting was to define whether the Ministry accepted to modify the current draft of the new institute Valle de Leiva.

A building that does not meet the basic needs arising from the school management and that if they came covered in the previous project, presented at the hall of the City Council in October 2012.

Counselor and Director General confirmed that centers are changing the current proposal, taking into account the requests that the management of the institute conducted on 19 November.

Including the construction of a hall, four classrooms and offices for teachers.

The autonomous region continues to define the construction, now with the new additions, in two phases.

But this time with a commitment to them continuously and not to center on until that is not fully built.

The architect is working to add to the draft amendments and since the Ministry has given permission to the school management to oversee the work and provide the improvements it may deem necessary.

Poll to decide the location

Last October the government ahead that a consultation be held to choose the construction site of the new IES Valle de Leiva, taking into account the division which generated across sectors.

The method chosen was that of popular survey, by installing ballot boxes in schools and colleges of the municipality and in the City, so they could vote all elderly residents of 16 years.

On this matter, the Minister has moved to respect the will of the municipality, although the change of location may pose a delay and cost overrun of the project.

The mayor reported that the consultation will be carried out immediately, in late February or early March.

Options for that location and the final date will be decided by the educational community through their representatives FAPA next Tuesday at a special meeting.

The Local Government ratify the agreement immediately notifying local political groups.

In addition to an information campaign in the media, residents will have an institutional newsletter with all the information and opinions on the placement options and the process of consultation.
