The Ministry of Agriculture and Water and the city of Alhama allocated 1.2 million euros for the packaging of 33.5 kilometers of service roads run through this township, after the agreement signed today by the head of the Ministry, Antonio Cerdá, and the mayor of Alhama, Juan Romero.
The design of these roads will improve the current conditions of service, both for agricultural machinery and for access to farms and rural households in the zone of action.
In the first phase roads conditioned 7 of the 23 established, involving 17 kilometers long and an investment of 990,000 euros.
The Minister of Agriculture said after signing the agreement, "This action helps to expand the network of rural roads in the region and represents a further step in the promotion and preservation of rural areas."
The works will consist in improving the platform widening roads and flush them to allow the placement of engineering works required for the disposal of rainwater.
In addition, construct a surface course of asphalt 5 cm thick for better road maintenance, together with corresponding traffic signaling.
The financial contribution to fund the refurbishment works will be cited by 50 percent by both parties signing and annuities funded in 2008 and 2009.
The Department has acted in the improvement and upgrading of rural roads serving farms through Local Plans.
This is the first time the City Council supports this agreed from Alhama in 2002 was launched this form of cooperation between administrations.
