The director of the Institute for Youth, Veronica Lopez, accompanied by the mayor of Alhama de Murcia, Juan Romero, and the Councillor for Youth, Maria Elena Marín, closed the International Work Camp Archaeology of Alhama, in which a group participated young people between 18 and 26 different countries.

All have received during the closing ceremony of a diploma certifying their participation in the labor camp where they have done archaeological work in the "Cerro del Castillo."

In total have been 20 volunteers who have worked in this field of international work.

Young people came from Aragon, Asturias, Canarias, Castilla y León, Extremadura, Madrid and Murcia, as well as France, England, Poland and South Korea.

The activities began on July 12 and have been developed to date, time in which the participants have worked on archaeological work on the Cerro del Castillo, developing work within the fort on which are carrying out actions restoration and enhancement of Islamic and Christian remains (XI-XVI centuries).

Young people have participated the study and analysis of the site, environmental study of the flora and fauna, restoration of the remains exhumed, mainly ceramics and coatings, cleaning, cataloging and inventory of materials and ceramics.

They have also performed additional work and archaeological drawing floor plans in the northern sector of the Hill, from late antiquity, known as "Cerro de las Palera ', very close to the remains excavated in the field of medieval fortification.

Totana Labor Camp

Also, Veronica Lopez visited, accompanied by the director general of the Natural, Rodrigo Borrega, and Youth Councillor Maria Josefa Sanchez, the Environmental Working range Espuña Regional Park, where a group of young people engage in conservation work and documentation environment.

The Labor Camp Espuña began last July 16 and will run until 30th of this month.

Located in the Regional Park of Sierra Espuña within the town of Totana, in an area known as The Stables.

This year, involving 14 young people between 18 and 26 years of Aragon, Castilla y León, Madrid and Valencia, who joined those from Italy, France, Portugal and South Korea.

The volunteers carry out activities of documentation and information on the Regional Park, performances of environmental conservation, and management of public use, adequacy of paths in the network of nature trails, restoration and maintenance of historical and public facilities.

The Labor Camp Espuña is an initiative that emerged in 1995 from the collaboration between the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Planning through the Directorate General of the Environment and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, through the Institute Youth, with the town of Totana.
