The Mayor of Alhama de Murcia, Juan Romero Canovas, this morning attended the signing of the Special Plan Basic Municipal Infrastructure allows execution of 118 new initiatives in the 45 municipalities in the region.

The event, chaired by the President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel Siso, attended by the mayors of municipalities in Murcia.

The state government is working on a plan for municipalities guarantees of the Region, with the aim of helping to meet current expenditure, announced today the president of the Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, the mayors of 45 municipalities, during the signing ceremony of the respective conventions referred to in the Special Plan Basic Municipal Infrastructure.

This plan guarantees operate in a similar way to Financiapyme Plan approved by the regional government to improve the liquidity of the companies before the crisis, and is currently in the process of legal analysis, as explained by the regional government spokeswoman, Maria Pedro Reverte in his appearance before the media to report on the signing of agreements between the Community and the municipalities of the Region.

Special Plan Basic Municipal Infrastructure

The 45 municipalities in the region will undertake the implementation of 118 new initiatives in their municipalities through extra budgetary allocations of the Autonomous Region included in the Special Plan Basic Municipal Infrastructure, which represents an additional investment of the regional administration of 21 million euros.

This extraordinary item is part of the Plan for Economic Revitalization and Strengthening of Employment in the Region of Murcia, launched by the regional government last March in order to cushion the effects of the economic crisis in the region.

With the implementation of the Basic Municipal Infrastructure Plan, the Autonomous Community is working with municipalities in providing municipal services to build new facilities and improve existing infrastructure, such as rehabilitation and construction of buildings and roads, lighting, rural electrification, building gardens, or improvement of sewers, among other actions.

The contributions range from 163,000 euros and 3.8 million euros, which is distributed according to criteria such as population size or surface, among other factors.

The investments are distributed in eight million during this fiscal year, five in 2009 and eight in 2010.

Ramon Luis Valcarcel reminded that the budget of the Autonomous Region for 2009 envisages an increase in funds for the municipalities of 17.31 percent, which is triple the average increase in the overall budget, amounting to 5.85 percent .

The president argued that "would have been easier for everyone if the state had addressed the necessary reform of local financing in a timely manner, with integrity and responsibility.

The councils could now enjoy a planned and projected in the future.

Valcárcel announced the mayors that the region will require at the next Council of Fiscal and Financial implementation of the new population census and the reform of local financing system is addressed with the regional government.
