The construction of the local police station in Alhama de Murcia began today with the laying of the cornerstone of this new infrastructure by the Director General of Local Government, Javier Iniesta, and the local mayor, Juan Romero.
The works execution within nine months and have a budget of 1,128,216 euros, of which the Autonomous Community contributes 600,000 euros.
The new facility, which also houses the headquarters of the Association of Civil Protection, are located on a plot of 1,089 square meters located between the streets and Lorenzo Rubio Andreo Station.
The building will be 1,720 meters square useful, will have three floors for offices and a basement garage and dungeons.
The future building will have more room to develop policing, as well as the technical and material resources, and will replace existing units that have become obsolete.
Iniesta said about this new infrastructure "will help improve the police service and increase public safety in the municipality."
Currently, the staff of the Local Police in Alhama de Murcia is formed by 42 staff (one officer, one sergeant, seven corporals and 33 officers).
The municipality has 10 of the 628 players listed in the Regional Public Safety Plan, approved in 2006 with the unanimous support of the 45 municipalities in the region.
For its part, the Civil Protection Association has 40 volunteers.
In addition to the city of Alhama de Murcia, the Presidential and Public Administration has signed several agreements last year to fund this type of infrastructure in the municipalities in Molina de Segura, Puerto Lumbreras, Lorca, Cartagena, Cehegín and Torres of Cotillas.
