Alhama City Council has taken a definitive step for a different urban planning based on sustainability.

This is the Special Plan which continues to Infraestructruras General Management Plan (PGMO), adopted unanimously by all local groups, which was awarded last November by the Ministry of Public Works in the category of Municipal Urban Planning for the construction of tourist resorts.

The Special Infrastructure Plan in place orders and provides infrastructure and services needed for future tourist-residential developments south of town.

This action is part of the urban policy alhameño undertaken by the City Council, agreed by all political representatives, and that "purports to be a role model, basing on strict criteria of quality, excellence and compatibility with the town's development, both from the standpoint economic, social and environmental, "said Mayor John Romero Alhama.

This plan foresees a total financial investment of 130 million euros in infrastructure and service networks to address the external connections of urban development currently in process and ensure its proper environmental treatment.

'These facilities, built and largely paid by themselves are builders that have collateral, which ensures the City of Alhama execution "qualifies Romero.

In addition, the IEP meets the future demands for potable water supply needed to meet the future needs of the population to be established, the existence of sufficient water resources, since it has a favorable report of the Basin Agency.

"This is a substantial element which ensures, together with earlier forecasts of equipment, networks and environmental treatment services, a global footprint, sustainable and viable social, environmental and economic," says José Espadas, Town Planning.

Another aspect is that planning takes time for the implementation of infrastructure and works and the necessary mechanisms to ensure its proper implementation, land acquisition, financing activities, management and contribution of current developments in the pipeline.

The submission to the environmental assessment process of each and every one of the partial plans to develop those areas of land for development is one of the main requirements of PEI.

This will examine, both individually and together, the effects of its implementation can have on the environment, should make all necessary corrective and preventive measures so that, alone or together, are compatible and cause the least impact.
