The City Council of Alhama de Murcia, through the Department of Health together with the Red Cross, has organized a course on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use of semiautomatic external defibrillators (DESA), with the collaboration of residents associations of La Costera , El Cañarico and Las Cañadas.
The training will count as speakers with José Luis Garre Sánchez, doctor and current president of the Red Cross in Alhama, and Francisco Belchí López, trainer in first aid and emergencies and former president.
The course is theoretical and practical, is approved by the Ministry of Health and has a total of 20 places.
It will take place on May 11, 16 and 18 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the La Costera Social Center (Teleclub de Los Ventorrillos).
The course is free, but registration is mandatory through Benito Carrasco Carrasco, mayor-pedáneo of La Costera.
After the completion of this course, the installation of the defibrillators that this City Council has acquired for the five districts will be completed.
Currently, El Berro and El Cañarico are already in place, as well as those of all public schools in Alhama, nursery schools and sports facilities.
The importance of semiautomatic defibrillators (DESA)
It is an electronic device, in this portable case, that diagnoses and treats a cardiorespiratory arrest when it is caused by a fibrillation or a ventricular tachycardia (there is electrical activity in the heart, but without mechanical effectiveness or with ineffective pumping).
Thanks to an electric shock managed by the DESA, an effective heart rate can be restored electrically and mechanically.
