The Department of Urban Quality of the City of Alhama de Murcia calls the 1st Mural Painting / Graffiti 2018, with the aim of promoting contemporary art, giving participation to creators of mural painting, graffiti, urban art ... and disseminate the works as a channel of expression and communication vehicle, in addition to enhancing and improving the appearance of public and / or private spaces on which this activity will take place.
Theme and technique
Free whenever it is suitable to be permanent on wall support.
Each participant or team of participants may submit a maximum of five sketches, which should only refer to drawings or images, not accepting texts or signatures.
The City of Alhama, on its website, will make available to the interested parties the locations, measurements and photos of the walls that will be intervened.
Support and measures sketches
The sketches will be presented on a cardboard support (minimum 1 cm.) Without frame, for later exhibition in a municipal hall, if applicable.
The only valid measures for the sketches are A-3 (21 x 42cms).
Other measures will be rejected.
Registration
Registration will be free.
All persons over 16 years of age may participate if they wish, and must register individually or in a group (maximum of 4 members).
Documentation to present
- Application for registration (one per sketch).
- Photocopy of the NIF and curriculum of the participant and, where appropriate, of each of the group's components.
- Minors will attach the authorization of the parent or guardian.
- Original sketch in A-3 format (21 x 42 cms.) And on a DVD or pendrive with the image in JPG format at a minimum resolution of 300 ppi, without signature or pseudonym.
- Description of the technique and materials to be used for the work.
- Affidavit that the work is original and unpublished, not having been presented in other contests and that does not suppose, in whole or in part, copy or plagiarism of own published works or of other artists, being their authors responsible before this Entity and against third parties of the breach of said measure.
Phases of the development of the Contest
1st
Selection phase: the jury will consider, among the sketches presented, those that conform to the foundations, taking into account the freshness, creativity, technical quality and originality (of the ideas, the treatment of the themes, the composition ...), being able select up to 5 jobs from people or groups that will go to the final.
The list of those selected will be published on the municipal website and will be communicated by telephone or e-mail to interested parties.
If the jury deems it appropriate, there will be an exhibition in a municipal hall of all the works admitted and / or selected in this First Mural / Graffiti Painting Contest 2018.
2nd.
Phase: once in the final, will be awarded following awards, if the jury deems appropriate, being subject to current tax withholding, being entered, after the completion of the murals, in the usual payment terms of the City of Alhama de Murcia :
1st Prize: € 1,500.00
2nd Prize: € 1,000.00
3rd Prize: € 1,000.00
The participants will contribute all the material they consider necessary for the realization of their works (sprays, paint, brushes, rollers, seal, etc ...).
There will be a displacement aid of € 0.25 / km for the winners (up to a maximum of € 300.00), which will justify presenting an invoice with their fiscal data.
The City Council of Alhama will take charge of stairs, scaffolding, fences, marking tape, cones, etc ...
The winners will translate their work into the walls designated for the purpose, which must be true to the sketch submitted to the contest.
This task will be carried out for a maximum period of two weeks on the dates indicated by the organization, approximately, between September 15 and 30, 2018. Places, addresses and measures of the places to be involved are attached.
Project receipt date
Until September 3, 2018.
Registration and information
Applications for registration (one per sketch) will be submitted by mail or by hand in the Department of Culture and Heritage of the City of Alhama de Murcia, at the House of Culture, Avda. Constitución, s / n.

All the sketches received will remain in the hands of the City Council of Alhama de Murcia, which reserves the right to make use of them for the informative purposes it deems appropriate, always mentioning its authorship.
The winners assume all responsibility, both the cleanliness of the places assigned to perform their work and safety regulations (clothing, gloves, glasses, masks ...) and in case of accident or damage of any kind that could be caused to people or material goods, always leaving the Organization free of all responsibility.
They must sign their sketches, once the prizes are known.
Works that contain or constitute irreverent content, obscene, xenophobic, sexist, racist or any other that threatens the dignity of the people, as well as expression of apology of violence in any of its manifestations will not be admitted.
Jury
It will be integrated by the president (councilor of Urban Quality) and members (a technician of the Department of Urbanism, a technician of the Department of Culture and Heritage and an artist of proven experience).
The decisions of the jury will be unappealable, with the latter having the power to interpret these rules, being able to declare any prize deserted or suspend the contest if the quantity or quality of the submitted works is not considered sufficient.
The participation in this contest implies the total acceptance of the decision of the jury and of the present bases, whose interpretation corresponds to the jury.
