The mayor of Alhama, Diego Conesa, met this morning with the territorial delegate of the National Organization of the Spanish Blind (ONCE) in the Region, Juan Carlos Morejón, and with its director in the Guadalentín area, Ana Mª Oltra.
The meeting addressed the needs of the group of people with disabilities in the municipality, where 28 of them are associated with the ONCE and there are 10 workers in the organization selling coupons.
The City Council and the ONCE will study urban and technical improvements, especially in the downtown area, where there are pedestrian crossings without traffic lights or acoustic signals to find a formula that deepens the comfort and safety of these users.
For this they have agreed the joint study of technicians of the organization with the municipal technicians, with the aim of taking into account the needs of people with disabilities in the changes related to the circulation of vehicles and people who will be carried out in the next years.
In the afternoon, the Mayor and the Councilor for Social Services, Felipe García, attended the meeting called by the heads of the ONCE with the 28 associates of Alhama to listen to their concerns personally.
The organization has offered the possibility that any person from the municipality with disabilities can enter the selective processes to work in the ONCE, not only in Alhama, but also in other populations and temporarily through substitutions.
Conesa has requested to edit a coupon dedicated to the Los Mayos party, with the aim of having it for next year 2019. The organization has positively assessed the proposal and the parties have committed to work in coordination with the delegation of the ONCE in the Region of Murcia.
