The mayor of Alhama de Murcia, Diego Conesa, and the president of the Red Cross in the municipality, José Luis Garre, signed on Tuesday a cooperation agreement with the aim of improving the quality of life and welfare of those residents who lack economic resources or that may be at risk of social exclusion, applying, among other means, subsidies or financial aid.
The City Council, through its Department of Social Services, provides for this year a total of 35,000 euros to Red Cross Alhama to address emergency situations or urgent need for families and citizens registered in the municipality, as well as joint collaboration in volunteer activities of an educational nature.
The Municipal Social Services Center will be responsible for managing these demands, studying and checking each case before transferring it to the managing entity.
Once the need is verified, the Red Cross will be in charge of its processing.
The agreement will benefit those residents who are registered in the municipality of Alhama de Murcia and who, due to family, economic, physical or psychological circumstances, have difficulties to carry out a normalized life.
Fundamentally those referred to energy poverty, such as housing supplies (electricity, water and gas), among others.
The aid will amount to a maximum of 300 euros per year per family, although it may be increased by another 300 euros for those who are in an intervention plan aimed at reducing situations of marginalization and social exclusion, must be attached to an intervention plan family, socio-educational or continuous social and labor insertion.
The applicant must prove that he has participated in activities, workshops, actions and training itineraries, promoted by associations, foundations or NGOs that carry out social projects in the municipality, as well as by public entities (INEM, SEPE, SEF, Adult Education, ... ), whose contents meet the objectives established in the Municipal Regulation of Concession and Management of Economic Benefits of Family Support and Social Insertion.
