This morning the Councilor for Consumer Affairs, Nani Navarro, together with Mari Carmen Romero, responsible for Promotion of Training and Protection SL, presented the information session on the General Data Protection Regulation that will take place on Wednesday, June 13 at the 9:00 pm at the business incubator for women in Alhama de Murcia.
Navarro has reported that "this act is focused on self-employed and SMEs, although later we want to prepare companies with superior capacity."
The councilor has highlighted the importance of giving the opportunity to entrepreneurs and freelancers to catch up and have more knowledge about this regulation.
"All those people who work with data from others are obliged to be up to date and have it in order as this law is increasingly updated more and more seriously."
All entrepreneurs are obliged to work on the data protection law and have it updated.
This regulation entered into force on May 25, 2016, and must be fully operational from this past May, 2018.
Since 1999 it was mandatory to register with the Spanish Agency for Data Protection and comply with this regulation through the LOPD, an organic law of the Spanish state, treating the data of users by companies in an appropriate manner.
As of May 25 of this year, with the new regulations, a series of changes and a mandatory adaptation are introduced that all companies must assume, even if they already comply with the LOPD.
Mari Carmen Romero has expressed that "there is a lot of ignorance and doubts, and we thought it was important to train and inform, in the course the most important topics of this regulation will be explained and it will end with a talk-colloquium among the attendees".
