Last May 14 was held in the boardroom of the City of Alhama a session of the municipal commission of absenteeism and dropping out of school.
This body is composed of the directors and teachers of community services of the two secondary education institutes of Alhama, the directors of two primary schools, representatives of the educational inspection, representatives of attention to the diversity of the Ministry of Education , as well as diverse municipal technicians: agent tutor, technician of Education, technician of Social Services and the councilmen of Education, Local Police and Social Services.
The meeting addressed issues of great importance such as the actions that are being developed to prevent and control school absenteeism.
Also discussed in depth were the options and alternatives to improve the coordination between the centers and the various existing municipal resources, in order to offer a global and integrated response to the situations of difficulty of minors in the educational field.
During the session, the people in charge of each area evaluated in a very positive way the functioning and the results that are being obtained from the PEMAE (Municipal Program of Alternative Measures to Expulsion), which the City develops in the IES Valle de Leiva and Miguel Hernández , that provides support to the teaching team of both centers in situations of conflict or of noncompliance with the internal regulations of the students.
Through this program, an individualized intervention with the minors is carried out, in order to facilitate guidelines that, on the one hand, prevent their expulsion from the educational center and, on the other, develop skills that avoid the repetition of the conflict.
The City Council presented a report of the actions carried out during the last two school years, from the SEMAN (Municipal Service of Minor Care), where it highlighted the high number of interventions in social mediation developed, mediation that has been mainly between parents-children and among equals (classmates of the institute).
Councilman of Social Services and Local Police, Felipe García, made available to schools educational municipal resources, specifically through the technicians that make up the SEMAN (social educator and guardian agent).
Among them, it offered the possibility of imparting sensitization sessions in schools during the next school year, with the aim of learning to detect and prevent situations of school bullying, absenteeism and school dropout, as well as any other conflict situation in the schools. classrooms
