On Thursday, November 15, in the day of prioritization of participatory budgets organized by the City of Alhama with the University of Murcia, a group of 50 residents classified, applying criteria of sustainable urban development, all 162 proposals presented in the first phase of this process, which will allocate 400,000 euros to the realization of the most voted proposals in the voting days of next January
After a first phase, which gathered citizen initiatives and carried out a total of 16 information sessions with the residents of the municipality (six in the neighborhoods of the urban area, five in districts and one with each of the groups of women, elderly, migrants, AMPAs and people with functional diversity), a total of 162 proposals were obtained that were classified according to the order of interest in the recent prioritization session.
On this day, and following a novel methodology proposed by the research group of the University of Murcia that has designed the whole process, five roundtables composed of about fifty residents were responsible for scoring each of the proposals, attending to different sustainability criteria based on the European frame of reference for the sustainable city published by the European Union and which is, in turn, developed based on the sustainable development goals of the United Nations.
During the work session and before scoring, the neighbors had the opportunity to present their opinions and discuss the different initiatives submitted for evaluation.
After evaluating the scores, a list of citizen proposals classified by level of priority will be obtained, which will go on to the next assessment phase, where City Council technicians will study the viability of the initiatives and prepare the final lists that will be put to the vote next month. January 2019, in a conference in which all over 16 years of age registered in the municipality are called to participate.
