The City Council of Alhama de Murcia, through its Department of Sports, calls a new grant for aid to local athletes to collaborate in its development and sports projection, for an amount that increases to 4,000 euros for this year 2018.
The bases establish two lines of aid, to which athletes who only participate in final stages of national championships may opt and those who also participate in international competitions representing the Spanish national team.
Athletes may use the aid primarily for the acquisition of equipment and equipment, as well as travel and stay in competitions.
Applications can be submitted at the City Council's single window until December 12th.
Athletes who are beneficiaries of these scholarships must submit the required documentation in the Department of Sports before June 30, 2019.
Some scholarships that returned after six years
Last year the Department of Sports recovered these aids, designed for young athletes from Alhama, which were not granted since the 2010/2011 season.
"Some scholarships that should never have disappeared," said Councilman Antonio José Caja.
Thus, last January, the City Council recognized the sporting results of the previous season to 24 young people of the municipality in different championships in an emotional ceremony that was in the memory Óscar Sánchez, monitor Athletics Club of Alhama, died a few weeks before.
More and better facilities for our athletes
During this term, the City Council has undertaken various works to improve and refurbish the sports facilities.
Thus, the Sports area was undertaken in June 2016 the remodeling of Guadalentín gym, with an investment of 42,747 euros;
in September of that same year he inaugurated the municipal climbing wall in the Adolfo Suárez pavilion, for an amount of 37,510 euros.
This center also opened a new parquet floor last September, after the installation and conditioning work worth 120,000 euros
Now the remodeling of the athletics track of the Guadalentín sports complex is underway, which will involve an investment of 512,528 euros, of which the City Council contributes some 400,000 euros.
And in a few weeks it is planned to begin the construction of what will be the third sports hall of Alhama, located in El Praíco, by virtue of a collaboration and sponsorship agreement with the fruit and vegetable company El Ciruelo in Alhama, for which the company finances the works with a cost of 1,380,000 euros and that will be the first great equipment of the new IES Valle de Leiva.
In addition, the City Council last year undertook the regularization of 37 sports instructors.
