The City Council of Alhama de Murcia, through its Councilor for Social Services, Nani Navarro, has communicated to the Autonomous Community the main shortcomings presented by the residents of the municipality regarding the System of Care for Dependents, in a meeting held a few days ago with the managing director of the Murciano Institute of Social Action (IMAS), Verónica López.
First, regarding the Day Center for Persons with Intellectual Disability, for which the IMAS has an agreement signed with the City Council, which has recently been extended with the same number of places that were already subsidized (28), Navarro has requested that the CARM allocate funds for the maintenance and expansion of the infrastructure where this service is provided.
"It is necessary to equip it with specialized equipment for the development of workshops, as well as expand the spaces allocated to classrooms-workshop, to be able to work on the skills and abilities of the users of this center," he says.
About the Day Center for Elderly Dependents, where the IMAS has agreed an agreement with this City Council for 25 seats, the Councilor for Social Services has also exposed the need for funds from the Autonomous Community for the maintenance and equipment of the building, "since these expenses have always been borne by the municipal budget," he stressed.
Finally, about the Municipal Psychosocial Care Center, which currently serves 22 people with Mental Health difficulties on a daily basis, has reiterated the request that the City Council has already made on several occasions about the need to establish a collaboration agreement to include it in the network of resources of the System of Attention to Persons with Dependency, because, in spite of serving people with different degrees of dependence, it is currently being paid for in full by the Consistory itself, which allocates 100,000 euros of its annual budget.
