In a few weeks will begin the refurbishment of the grandstand of the municipal auditorium, with an investment by the City Council of 143,000 euros.
This proposal was the most voted in the first edition of participatory budgets of Alhama, where it obtained the first position with an endorsement of 686 votes and had a budget of 40,000 euros for the execution of improvement works, which included the repair of the structure of the stands, the replacement of seats, embellishment of the toilet area, changing rooms, canteen, etc.
In July 2017, the City Council acquired 500 new resin and aluminum chairs, which replaced the old cream seats, for outdoor performances in the Tierno Galván auditorium, which has a total capacity for 2,500 people.
The purchase of that furniture involved an investment of 11,174 euros.
After the technical review, it was detected that the concrete of the slabs of the stands, as well as their reinforcements, show a degree of deterioration and corrosion that make it incompatible with its use.
The filtration of rainwater through the stands and especially by their joints has been the cause that has led to this degradation, to which we must add the few coatings of the steel reinforcements.
This has led to a considerable deterioration of the reinforcements and the increase in steel volume associated with oxidation, cracking and subsequent detachment of the outer layer of concrete, thus accelerating the process.
The actions that are going to be undertaken consist of the stabilization of the corrosion and repair of the concrete of the stands to provide the whole with greater durability.
The reinforcements will be metallic installed under the bleachers and anchored to the sound concrete of the beams.
To hide the metal structure that is going to be attached, as well as to provide the audience with a renewed aspect towards the public road, a metallic panel cladding will be installed on the outside.
The reinforcements will be visible within the stores housed under the stands.
To prevent the rainwater from continuing to seep through the bleachers, the cleaning, cleaning and treatment of the vertical and horizontal surfaces of the bleachers will be carried out with specific products that guarantee airtightness as well as non-slipperiness of the surface.
A tube is going to be added to the railing that reduces the gap between the bottom and the pavement.
The external appearance of the part that will not be covered with metal panels will also be renewed, for which purpose they will place portals, paint carpentry, replace glass and paint the surface of the walls.
The exterior lighting with LED sconces will be renewed and beacon pilots will be installed on the steps of the bleachers to increase safety during nighttime use.
The seats of the grandstand will also be changed.
The term of execution of the works will be two months, so it will be closed during April and May.
In total there will have been more than 154,000 euros invested in the conditioning of the auditorium by the City Council, which is almost four times the amount committed in the participatory budgets.
