The Benemérita has counted on the collaboration of an animal protector
The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, in collaboration with a protector of animals, has developed the operation 'Footprint', aimed at clarifying some facts related to the abandonment of domestic animals, which has been settled with the discovery of a dog in terrible hygienic-sanitary conditions and the investigation of its owner, who has been instructed diligences as alleged perpetrator of crime relating to the protection of flora, fauna and domestic animals.
The operation was initiated at the beginning of the month, when an animal protector contacted the Nature Protection Service Patrol (SEPRONA) to report an alleged case of abandonment of a domestic animal at an address in Alhama de Murcia, apparently a bitch that was in deplorable hygienic-sanitary conditions.
The Civil Guards, after gathering all possible indications, carried out the corresponding inspection in the house where the person was supposedly in a state of abandonment to verify their situation.
In the building, the agents verified that she was a bitch, crossing of the American Staffordshire Terrier, in a state of extreme thinness (cachexia), clearly observing most of the main bones of this one.
He also had wounds spread over various parts of the body, ticks and abnormally long nails, which denotes a considerable lack of movement.
The bitch's posture was trembling and curved, and she ate with difficulty.
Shortly after the dog was attended by veterinary staff who could see the Benemérita that had an obvious state of abandonment, with extreme cachexia, wounds in protruding bones, muscle atrophy, outstanding growth of the nails due to a possible restriction of exercise and a multitude of parasites
Finally, the Civil Guard has investigated the owner of the dog, who has been instructed diligences as alleged perpetrator of a crime relating to the protection of flora, fauna and pets.
The investigated and the diligences instructed have been made available to the Court of Instruction of Totana (Murcia).

Campaign against the mistreatment and abandonment of domestic animals #YoSiPuedoContarlo
With the main objective of raising awareness among citizens to promote the necessary measures in protection, management and welfare for domestic animals, as well as to denounce those behaviors contrary to animal welfare of which they are aware, the Civil Guard began in July of 2017 the campaign #YoSiPuedoContarlo.
The Civil Guard has detected an increase in citizen awareness, not only through formal complaints, but also among users of social networks, as evidenced by the fact that one of the topics that generate more interaction in our followers of Twitter and Facebook is the request for citizen collaboration to clarify crimes of mistreatment of animals.
The second objective of this campaign is to raise awareness among the population that having an animal is a great responsibility and that animal abandonment is punishable under the current Penal Code.
