The Association for the Custody of the Territory (ACUDE) and the Society of Hunters the Cañadas de Alhama have marked the municipal farm of environmental interest La Alcanara, located in the protected landscape of the Saladares del Guadalentín.
This action is framed within the actions foreseen in the agreement of custody of the territory that the City Council of Alhama de Murcia has signed with ACUDE since May 8, 2018. The design of the signs has been done by the General Directorate of the Natural Environment, the Ministry of the Environment, following the typology established for this type of protected areas.
The posters are sponsored by the Hunters Society.
With them, the intention is to make the inhabitants of Alhama de Murcia participate in the importance of these natural spaces being part of the public patrimony, that is, they belong to all the citizens, who have the right to enjoy them at the same time as the obligation to respect them and contribute to their conservation.
In the placement of the signage, the Councilor for the Environment and Pedanías, Antonio García, collaborated, who traveled to the area to participate in the activity and deal with the following planned actions on the ground.
The City Council of Alhama de Murcia has demonstrated its commitment to the conservation of natural heritage, both through the agreement signed with ACUDE for the management of three municipal estates (La Alcanara, Quebrada de Beatriz and Carrascoy Umbria), as with the performances developing in this area for the improvement of the ecosystem, especially through the recovery of native vegetation, the management of the pomegranate trees of this area of the farm and the elimination of invasive alien species, such as gandul, morsana and some cacti.
In addition, this City Council has financed the conservation actions planned by ACUDE for this period, including planting for wildlife or the creation of a visual screen near the edge of the farm with the service road of the Mazarrón highway, to cushion the impact of vehicles on the natural space.
