The continued presence of waste has forced the Department of Environment to withdraw in the last few months of the channel of the ravine of Los Molinos more than 125 tons of garbage illegally deposited at various points located between the roads of Los Pavos, La Heredad and the Tejares, in a stretch of 600 meters.
The vast majority were rubble, although glass, plastics, cans, cardboard, furniture, appliances and clothing among other waste have also been removed.
All these elements come from illegal discharges made in many cases in secret to avoid responsibility for their proper management.
On occasions when some of these discharges have been controlled by local police officers, the corresponding complaints and consequent sanctions have been processed.
The work has been done with both mechanical and manual means and has involved a human and economic effort for the City of Alhama (more than € 3,000).
These tasks continue today with the withdrawal of numerous specimens of invasive exotic plant species that in many cases have reached there as a result of discharges of plants from private gardens and their subsequent dispersal by rains or by the transit of animals and people.
The City Council asks for the collaboration of neighbors and warns the population of the serious risks involved in throwing this waste in ravines and ditches of roads and highways, since in case of torrential rains it can cause flooding by trawling and invasive species dispersed .
This type of behavior is regulated by the municipal ordinance of Road Cleaning and Municipal Waste Management, and may carry penalties from 301 to 3,000 euros.
