Within the framework of meetings that Fundown is holding with the different municipalities of the Region, this week there was a meeting between the mayor of Alhama, Mariola Guevara, and the coordinator of the employment area of ​​this foundation, Irene Molina, to discuss the project of employment with support for inclusion in the company.
The objective is to establish a contact, through the City Council, between the Fundown and the service companies of the municipality so that young people with intellectual disabilities, among which are diverse residents of Alhama, may have a job opportunity.
Fundown
The Down Syndrome Foundation of the Region of Murcia (Fundown) was established as a non-profit entity on May 9, 1994, and since then it has been one of the most relevant regional and national entities in the promotion of the Personal Autonomy of the Group of people with intellectual disability and / or Down syndrome.
The Foundation supports its actions under the philosophy called 'School of Life of Fundown', which has originated and developed to conceive the person with intellectual disability as a person with the ability and right to exercise control of their own life.
Area of ​​employment
The employment area is part of the Employment and Training Service (SEFE) of the Life School of the Down Syndrome Foundation of the Region of Murcia.
Its purpose is to find and promote new ways of Labor Inclusion aimed at users who, once the vocational training processes have been completed, demand their incorporation into the labor world, without having to cover this need with the top protected employment lines.
This area has brilliant results obtained in the access to the ordinary labor market of the users of the foundation and in the consolidation of their jobs.
Note that the actions developed by the employment service are aimed at satisfying the needs of the main agents involved in the labor integration process: user, family and company.
The service provided comprises actions of:
- Work orientation
- Prospecting for employment
- Follow-up and accompaniment in the search for employment
- Staff pick
- Active employment exchange
- Person to post adaptation
- Face-to-face support in the workplace
- Advice and support to the company: subsidies and hiring subsidies, presentation of applications, monitoring of placements
And, in general, to all those actions that make up the consolidation of the process of full employment integration, taking into account an itinerary of comprehensive and personalized inclusion, based on the principles of integration, standardization, autonomy and independence.
The methodology of supported employment, which has been waged since the birth of this area and, until now, as a model of labor insertion, is the one that is most in line with the fundamental aims of the Foundation, which are based on full family, social and work integration and the development of a normal life.
Employment with support
Employment with support is a form of employment oriented to the labor insertion of people with disabilities in a standardized area (ordinary company), arbitrating the necessary supports, inside and outside the work environment to achieve the full integration of the worker in the position .
One of the main tools to carry out actions of employment with Support is the mediating figure, called Labor Preparer, which offers disabled workers the necessary support for their adaptation to the job, from the preparation for the development of skills and necessary tasks, until the follow-up and accompaniment in the workplace.
In short, Fundown has developed over the course of its years of experience, different lines of action in the field of labor inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.
To achieve this objective, the employment area works around three main strategies of action, all of them framed in the promotion of ordinary employment.
After a professional training course, their main objective will be consolidating practical training in relation to tasks and socio-labor skills of a specific profile.
It is a structured process of training that is carried out directly in the workplace, with the purpose of providing both the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the tasks of that position, as well as favoring a subsequent recruitment.
