This Sunday at midday there was the fall of an important branch of a carob tree in the municipal park of La Cubana, releasing another branch of the same tree in the middle of the afternoon.
The checkpoint of the municipal brigade proceeded to the removal of the remains, eliminating another third branch to the possible danger of fracture on the road or pedestrian crossing.
All this in collaboration with the Local Police.
According to the municipal technicians, the most probable cause is the stress caused by the high temperatures, added to the weight of the carob fruit of the branches.
The so-called SBD (Summer Branch Drop) is a failure of branches of mature trees without an obvious cause, often have in common the following characteristics: they occur in periods without rain or drought, existence of high temperatures (yesterday came to 39.4 ° C), fracture away from the junction point and seemingly healthy wood.
Characteristics that are fulfilled in this case, since the wood where the invoice has been produced, no defect is perceived.
Although they have been observed, at the base and part of the trunk, some rots that are far from where the failure has occurred.
This morning we have proceeded to the sanitation and balance of the structure of the tree, having to perform a severe pruning.
