After the constitution of the new Corporation, article 14 of the Organic Regulation of the City Council, modified in the year 2017, establishes the election of the peer mayors by means of a plebiscite (by vote of the neighbors of the parish between the candidates that appear) in a maximum period of three months.
While this procedure is carried out, and in the exercise of the powers granted by Law 7/1985, of April 2, Regulating the Bases of Local Regime, the mayor of Alhama de Murcia, Mariola Guevara, has appointed provisionally and so as not to leave these positions empty, to the following Pánaeous Mayors, the same ones who have been filling the post since 2015:
· Benito Carrasco Carrasco in the hamlet of La Costera.
· José López García for the district of El Berro.
· Ana María García Baños for the district of El Cañarico.
· Manuel Gambín Cánovas for the hamlet of Gebas.
· José Antonio García Mendoza for the district of Las Cañadas.
At the regular plenary session in July, the local government will submit for its approval the process of electing new candidates, to be held in September.
