Cefusa is committed to the development of increasingly sustainable livestock facilities
The livestock company Cefusa, integrated in the holding company Grupo Fuertes, and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, are working together to design the farm of the future and promote more sustainable environmental management through the valorization of livestock by-products.
This objective is the one pursued by the Chair in Sustainable Environmental Management of Swine Production, which is directed by Dr. Ángel Faz and which has been renewed today for the second year with the firm this morning between the heads of Cefusa, Tomás Fuertes, José Fuertes and Juan Cánovas, and the rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), Alejandro Díaz.
The commitment of Cefusa, supplier of ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN, is to implement better resource management in the livestock facilities through the circular economy and reduce the carbon footprint and the water footprint with the treatment and recovery of the by-products generated by the activity.
The research work carried out during the first year of the Chair has focused on the improvement of the fertility of agricultural soils from the valorization of the slurry, subjected to a rigorous process of prior treatment, which has also allowed a decrease of erosive processes in semi-arid areas and a better use of water resources.
In addition, the implanted processes seek to reduce emissions and minimize possible negative effects on populations near farms.
Cefusa and ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN are committed to the safest and most environmentally friendly models and to apply the most advanced techniques that guarantee the most viable and sustainable solutions for the future of the livestock sector and the rural environment.
