The mayor of Alhama de Murcia, Mariola Guevara, met this morning with the president of the Association for the Custody of the Territory (ACUDE), Pilar Sánchez, and with the secretary and spokesman, Juan Luis Castanedo, who explained the purposes and objectives that this statewide organization has based in the locality.
Guevara has been very interested in the custody of the territory as a tool for conservation and management of the natural and rural environment.
ACUDE executives have informed you about the agreements that it currently has with farm owners and the actions that have been developed in those that are municipal, within the framework of the collaboration agreements that the City Council and the association have maintained during the last years.
The custody of the territory is a tool that encourages the voluntary collaboration of property owners and users of the territory in the conservation of nature and the environment, offering them a series of advantages for their properties that they would not individually have.
Currently, the ACUDE territory custody network has about 400 private farms associated by agreement and six public farms, three of them in the municipality of Alhama de Murcia.
The collaboration between the City Council of Alhama and ACUDE has been very effective in giving social visibility to public farms, such as in the case of La Alcanara, located in the Saladares del Guadalentín, and favoring them being known outside our borders.
In addition, through these agreements various management actions have been developed, such as planting plots for wildlife or planting native shrub species, as well as dissemination actions.
They have also favored interaction with farm owners in the municipality and with hunter societies, who have participated with the City Council and ACUDE to improve the conservation of public farms.
Both parties have shown their interest in continuing with this collaboration, leaving a meeting between ACUDE and the Councilor for the Environment, Antonio Espinosa, to continue promoting the custody of the territory in the municipality.
