The literature contest is an activity promoted by the Women's Advisory Council of the Department of Equality, on the occasion of March 8, 'International Women's Day'.
This contest was created with the intention of using the written word as a vehicle to make gender inequalities visible and to raise awareness through the culture of equal opportunities between men and women.
Like the Violeta Prize, it was in the 90s when this event was held for the first time.
BASES OF THE LITERATURE CONTEST 2020
1. OBJECT:
Convene the literary contest of the Department of Equality of the City of Alhama de Murcia March 8, 'International Women's Day'.
The objective of this contest is to raise awareness through the culture about equal opportunities between women and men, as well as to make gender inequalities visible.
2 .. PARTICIPANTS:
All individuals, residents of Alhama de Murcia and over 16 years of age may wish to participate in the contest, one text per participant.
In the young category, people aged between 16 and 20 will participate.
3 .. THEME AND FEATURES:
All works submitted must deal with Equality between women and men.
They may address, among others, the following aspects:
· Sexist stereotypes in training and professional activities.
· Reconciliation of family, personal and work life.
Responsibility of women in such conciliation.
· Unequal treatment of women and men in the media.
· Etc.
· Identity and sexual orientation.
Those works that include aggressive connotations or that damage the sensitivity of the society will be excluded (it will be the jury itself who determines the exclusion of said works).
The works must be unpublished and original, not having been presented in other competitions and their authors will be responsible to the City Council and to third parties for compliance with the provisions of these rules.
Any type of writing that collects proposals and experiences may be submitted.
The extension shall be a minimum of one folio and a maximum of three, of type DIN A-4, typed or with very clear letters on one side and in Spanish.
4 .. AWARDS:
The awards ceremony will be held during the commemorative events of International Women's Day organized by the Department of Equality of the City of Alhama de Murcia.
The winning works will not be made public until the day of the
awards.
The following awards are established:
1st Prize: € 150
2nd Prize: € 100
3rd Prize: € 50
Young Prize: € 100
These awards will be subject to the taxes established by law.
5 .. PRESENTATION:
The original submission deadline will begin the day after the publication of these bases in the notice board of the City of Alhama de Murcia and will end on March 3, at 2:00 p.m.
In the works no name or signature of the author will appear and will be delivered or sent within an envelope, attached within this other sealed envelope that will include the name and surname of the author of the works, address, telephone and a photocopy of the ID
Outside of both envelopes will be specified 'Literary Contest March 8, the year and the title of the work', and where appropriate, Young Prize.
This envelope will only be opened by the presidency of the jury, in the presence of the rest of its members and once the jury's decision occurs.
The works will be presented or sent to the Department of Equality of the City of Alhama de Murcia, in the Nursery of Companies for Women, located in the c / Luis Pasteur s / n, CP 30840 of Alhama de Murcia, on business days of 9: 00 to 14:00 hours.
6 .. JURY:
The members of the jury will be appointed by resolution of the Mayor's Office, which will be made public through its presentation on the notice board of the City of Alhama de Murcia along with the contest rules.
This jury will consist of:
President: the Councilor for Equality of the City of Alhama de Murcia.
Vice President: the Councilor for Associations of the City of Alhama de Murcia.
Vowels:
- Two representatives for each Women's Association of the municipality of Alhama de Murcia.
- A representative of the Women's Area of ​​the majority unions in the Municipality of Alhama de Murcia.
- Two specialists in literature
- Two professors of literature of the Institutes of Secondary Education of Alhama de Murcia.
Secretary: The technique of the women's area and coordinator of the Business Nursery for Women of the City of Alhama de Murcia.
The President will have the vote of quality.
The vice president and the secretary will not have a vote.
The jury will be constituted and will meet in order to issue the ruling.
In the first place, it will verify one by one all the works presented to verify the effective fulfillment of the conditions established in the present bases and, consequently, to pronounce on their definitive admission.
The jury will assess the fulfillment of the objectives of the contest, its literary quality and its social value from the point of view of gender equality.
It will be valued that the text makes a non-sexist use of language.
Each member of the jury will score from 5 to 10 each work (10 being the highest score).
Literary works will be valued independently by:
- Representatives of associations and unions that are part of the Women's Advisory Council.
- The specialists.
- The teachers of the Secondary Education Institutes of the municipality.
The final score will be the average of the three scores.
In case of a tie, the quality vote of the president will resolve.
The jury may declare the prizes void if they consider that none of the works presented merit enough merits to be awarded, as well as establish second prize and mentions.
The jury's decision is final.
The contestants, by the mere fact of participating in this contest, expressly waive the exercise of all types of claims against their resolutions.
7 .. AWARDED WORK:
The awarded works will remain the exclusive property of the City Council of Alhama de Murcia, with the City Council holding the exploitation rights.
To this end, the winner must sign a declaration with the following text: "I hereby assign ownership of the winning work to the City of Alhama de Murcia that reserves all rights to it including reproduction."
The winning work will be rejected if the author does not sign said declaration.
The awarded works will not be made public until the awards ceremony.
The Alhama City Council is empowered to make some modification in the winning works.
8 .. WORKS NOT AWARDED:
The submitted works can be found on the web ay ay.alhamademurcia.es from March 8 to 31, without the need of express authorization from the respective authors.
Non-awarded works may be withdrawn by the authors once the contest is resolved, within the following 60 days.
If within the indicated period they had not withdrawn, it will be understood that the authors renounce their property in favor of the City of Alhama de Murcia, who may destroy them or give them the use they deem most convenient and timely, which may include their edition or printing by the City Council.
9 .. ADVERTISING:
The call and its bases will be published on the website of the City of Alhama de Murcia and on the Notice Board of the City Council.
In January, the publicity of this contest will begin through local media and social networks.
10. FINAL RULES:
The City of Alhama de Murcia will not be liable for any reason for the loss, deterioration or loss of the works submitted to the contest during its term of duration, not signing an insurance policy that covers said risks.
It will be the responsibility of the contestants any claim that may occur in relation to the authorship of the work and its possible plagiarism.
The fact of participating in the contest implies the knowledge and acceptance by the contestants of the present bases, of the rights and obligations that are derived;
reason why they will not be able to challenge them once the presentation is formalized.
The competent bodies will be empowered to resolve the doubts that arise and take the necessary agreements for the good order of the contest, in everything not provided for in these rules.
