The Department of Seniors has scheduled a cycle of workshops for this year 2020 that aims to prevent and promote the autonomy of the elderly in the municipality.
In this initiative, the Civil Guard of Alhama and Tunstall Televida, a provider of the telecare service in the municipality, collaborate.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines active aging as the process of optimization of health, participation and safety opportunities in order to improve the quality of life as people get older.
Active aging applies to both individuals and population groups.
Taking this definition we can extract the three fundamental pillars of active aging: participation, health and safety.
This stage is not only contemplated from health care, but also incorporates factors from social, economic and cultural areas that affect the aging of people and from here we act.
From active aging, physical, social and mental well-being develops throughout the life cycle, while participating in the community according to the needs, desires and abilities of each person, providing adequate protection, safety and care in the case of need support
For four years, the council has been developing workshops in this regard that this year has as a novelty topics of interest for the elderly that extends over time and reaches the districts.
This year, within the activities scheduled in the week of the elderly, two very interesting topics will be addressed to the districts of La Costera and El Berro.
The rest of the program takes place in the senior center of La Cubana Park, on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.
