This 2019/2020 season will be recorded in the history of the Alhama Basketball Club, not only due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but also due to the promotion to 1st division, the highest category of regional basketball, which the Pololo team has achieved CB Alhama Furniture. A success that does not fall only on the 10 players with a chip in the first team squad.
Throughout the season there has been a total link with the second team, constantly raising players to complete training and matches.
A total of 25 athletes have participated in the promotion. The Pololo Mobiliario CB Alhama team is made up of players José Pablo Fernández, Sergio Meléndez, Abel García, Fran Merino, Alberto García, Juan Daniel Mayol, Pedro Sánchez, José Javier Jara, Aitor Inglés and Julio Moreno, along with their coach, Nuria Fernández, the club's first federated technique and sole coach in the league, and her assistant, Jose Pagán, coach of the 2nd regional senior team. The project started three seasons ago with the idea of ??fighting for promotion.
The first two campaigns were eliminated in the semifinals, where the category promotion was achieved.
The team then had coach Abraham Ibáñez, who this year has been unable to continue, although he has continued to be linked to the club in technical tasks with young players.
The success is shared because Nuria has achieved results that from the club itself qualify as "incredible", highlighting from the beginning the effort and work to make the two teams a "whole".For the club it is a great milestone, never before achieved in its 33-year history.
It had always been played in second and first autonomic, being the last promotion achieved in 2010 in Caravaca. The president of the Basketball Club, José Pagán, commented that “we are very excited because in recent years we have opted for a long-term project in which the youth team grew in number of teams and schools at the same time as in the quality of training, which has subsequently contributed players prepared to achieve the promotion we now celebrate.
"The CB Alhama has been growing in recent years progressively, reaching a greater number of basketball fans each season.
This season it has 240 athletes between its great school and the eight federated teams, which allows that between the two senior teams (25 players) there are only two that come from outside the town, and the rest have been trained at the bases local. This season, the senior team had a balance of wins and losses of 16-2, not having lost a match in the second round and that was in a very positive dynamic to face the play-offs.
In the table they were tied for first place with CB El Carmen. From the City Council we want to congratulate you and we continue more than ever with the commitment to help the clubs.
