More than 400 children and older continue their musical learning thanks to the effort of the director of the center, the directors of the different formations, the teachers and the volunteers of the governing associationSince March 14, the municipal music school and the Alhama Music Association have had to reconfigure their activities, like many other institutions and organizations.
In an effort not to paralyze music education in our municipality, both the director of the center, José Antonio Ayala, and the Board of Directors of the Association decided to develop a contingency plan to avoid leaving hundreds of children and adults without their classes.
and trials.
The Department of Culture has supported the continuity and, thanks to the approval of the budgets, the activity of the school and of different musical formations of the association has been able to continue, being able to continue with the dissemination of musical culture, so important for development intellectual and emotional. The musical language and instrument classes have been developed in online mode, which has been a major challenge for all teachers, made up of 15 teachers hired by the Musical Association and the municipal official director of the center.
All the teachers have had to redouble efforts to adapt the classes and increase the follow-up, which has been individualized.
However, the entire teaching plan was designed for the face-to-face modality, taking into account the determining factors of the musical teaching-learning process.
Even so, in a very short time almost all of the students have adapted to virtual learning.
Videoconferencing sessions, phone calls, podcasts, and audios exchanged through alternative media have been the keynote in recent months.
Nowadays, teachers and students of the school are preparing the end-of-course auditions with which the school year traditionally ends. For its part, the band of the Association, directed by Raúl López, has maintained its activity by recording different works.
Among them, the recording of the classic Bichogüei de Malvariche stands out, which they prepared for the party of Los Mayos at home 2020 and that was broadcast through social networks and local media.
They are currently preparing a play remotely to end the season.
All this, despite the difficulties posed by online rehearsals and the subsequent audiovisual set-up necessary to fit all instruments. The proper functioning of virtual classes is a fact.
However, it cannot be denied that the ideal conditions for the music teaching-learning system are still mostly face-to-face.
For this reason, all the components of the municipal school of music and the Musical Association are eager to resume their face-to-face activity, always following the necessary measures to maintain the safety of teachers and students.
At this time, the center's management and the Board of Directors of the Association are waiting to receive the guidelines for the beginning of the 2020-2021 academic year.
Music education will continue next year in Alhama, as has been a tradition since 1981.
