This morning, ACONA (Alhameña Naturalistic Ornithological Cultural Association) has donated 50 birds of different species to the municipal aviary located in the La Cubana park.
The councilor for Parks and Gardens, Pedro López 'Piqui', the technician Simón García and several members of the association were present at the event. Among the species are hybrids, canaries of posture, canaries of color, tropical, and java sparrows, the latter very striking for their plumage. The aviary has an improvement that consists of a double door to guarantee the safety of the birds. The president of ACONA, José Escarvajal, has stated that "they are domestic birds, that they are not found in freedom and that they are bred in captivity.
In this way we promote the awareness that they do not touch the nests or hunt wild birds." He ended by remembering the distribution of nest boxes for bats, appealing not to touch those boxes so that they continue to clean the municipality of pests of insects and mosquitoes. The councilor thanked this donation to the association, as well as to Simón García for his work, emphasizing avoiding acts of vandalism and respecting this aviary.
