The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation reports that starting this week the change in the frequency of emission of some television multiples is planned, due to the process of releasing the second digital dividend. There are multiple channels that are modified, so some buildings in the municipality that are not prepared for this update will be affected and residents will have to retune their television receivers with the remote control to continue receiving the broadcast signal. Medium or large buildings that are equipped with collective antenna systems based on single channels or programmable switchboards, which have not previously adapted their collective antenna, should contact an installation company as soon as possible to adapt their television reception installation.
Once the installation has been adapted, these buildings will be able to receive television channels whose frequency is modified in accordance with the provisions of the new DTT technical plan.In single-family homes and small buildings, it will not be necessary to make adaptations in television reception facilities, it will only be necessary to retune the television receivers with the remote control. To compensate for the costs associated with the adaptation of television reception facilities, an aid plan has been put in place that may be requested by the communities of owners under horizontal ownership who have to adapt their facilities due to the release of the second digital dividend. The community of owners, the administrator of the farm or the registered telecommunications installer duly authorized by the community, may request the aid through the internet once the adaptations have been made (www.televisiondigital.es).The maximum amount of these aids ranges from 104.3 euros to 677.95 euros, depending on the type of adaptation that must be carried out in the building and the amount of additional equipment that needs to be installed. The relocation of digital television frequencies is a European mandate that aims to harmonize the 700 MHz frequency band currently used by television so that it can be used, from June 30, 2020, by new 5G high-speed mobile telephony across Europe.
These will allow the Internet to be used from mobile devices at very high speed, expand the geographical coverage of 5G technology, especially in rural areas, and improve coverage inside buildings. For its part, citizens can obtain information on the process of releasing the Second Digital Dividend, the aid plan, registered telecommunications installers and other aspects on the telephones 901 201 004 and 910 889 879 and on the web www.televisiondigital.
